Fantastic Soy Yogurt! |
I used to eat yogurt like there was no tomorrow. With all of the stomach issues I have, it always seemed to help. Not to mention, it is/was one of my favorite foods! Unfortunately, as I have stated before, the soy yogurts I tried were just not as good. My mom told me a while back that someone had recommended Stonyfield Farms O'Soy. I was still cautious to even look for it (and my grocery store did not carry it). So, at a recent visit to Whole Foods to find some alternatives to dairy products, the illustrator convinced me to give it a try. Well, I am so glad that I did! So far, it is the best soy yogurt I have tried. Shoot, it may be the best yogurt I have ever tried! I have called everyone that I know to tell them to try it...lactose intolerant or not! The only flavor I have tried is the vanilla and it taste like you are eating the creamiest custard! To tell you the truth, when I opened it up I was really worried when I saw that it was solid. Then I realized that when I stirred it, it was the perfect consistency! So, if you get a chance, give it a try...and if you don't need the soy, you can always try the regular ones! I haven't seen this yogurt here. Sounds good though! Maybe you could try making your own yogurt? I've been getting ideas in my head that I should try doing it sometime but I'm kind of scared.

I know what you mean...I am always a little skeptical about making things like that from scratch. I tried a ton of "ice cream" recipes last year and was not thrilled with the results, so I only tried one this summer and it was not good. I am kinda thrifty, so I hate to waste money which makes trying too many things at once a little scary! Let me know if you try it though, I am really interested!

That is awesome that you found a good yogurt! I recently had to take this one off of our dairy-free lists, as it seems O'Soy does have dairy in there somewhere (I have to look more into this). I don't think it is of any concern for lactose intolerance luckily!

have you ever tried the WholeSoy brand of soy yogurt? I actually prefer that one over the O'Soy variety - they have more tantalizing flavors :0)

oh and WholeSoy is certified vegan (which is important to me, because of the obvious, haha). but I agree with Alisa - I've heard that O'Soy may contain dairy, which is unacceptable.

I think you are right. I noticed that when I was looking at the ingredient list. I think it is the calcium that is the dairy in it...Let me know what you find out. I am always curious about that kind of stuff! It is lactose free though, so luckily I can have it!

Veggie Girl...I love that!..I actually have some WholeSoy in the fridge to try. I completely agree with you though with the dairy. It is too confusing and why put it in there??? I can't wait to try the WholeSoy yogurt though because the frozen yogurt kicked a**! I will let you know what I think!

hey! i wanted to let you know about wildwood soy yogurt. they have a plain variety that is unsweetened and tastes just like the "real" thing. i have a big case of it in my fridge, cuz it's that good.

strangely enough, I never liked yogurt (real, dairy yogurt) until i tried stonyfield farms. I promise to try to soy version next time I see it!

Kitty - I have never seen that brand before. I will definitely keep my eye open for it the next time I go to Whole Foods! Thanks for the suggestion.
Vanessa - I was really shocked when I tried it! I had my mom go out and get some to try and she loved it too!
