Nanner and Cereal Day!

To start off with, I had a blast with my boys yesterday!  There is nothing better than watching them totally excited over anything and they were running all over the place like they were in heaven!  After the heat of the water park though, the last thing I wanted to do was heat up the kitchen or eat a hot meal for that matter.  We all just wanted to relax with a simple cool meal.  Luckily, we had what it took to make just that!
Do you remember these, well they look differently because they were whole the last time you saw them.  These are the left over oatmeal cookies from our trip to Charlotte, NC.  There aren't many, but there are a sad few that were left behind.
The illustrator spotted the bananas on the counter and knew right away what he wanted tonight!  He broke up the cookies, sliced up a banana and poured some So Delicious Coconut Milk over it!
Since the cookies have coconut...this was a perfect combination!  I asked if I could quote him, but I don't think the exact words are suitable for my PG blog.  It was along the lines of it being "freakin'" delicious and now he is requesting that I make his cereal from scratch!  I love this idea!  I make granola, but now I am going to work on more...I love a good kitchen challenge!
Looks like he is feeding the face on his shirt!  Both were happy!
I went a different direction...I wanted peanut butter, banana and maple syrup!  I LOVE wheat puffs.  Yeah, that bagged cereal that's $1 at the grocery store, I am the girl that buys that stuff.  You know like Honey Smacks, but without the honey and just the smack!
1 TBSP natural peanut butter (melted in the microwave for 35 seconds)
1 cup puffed cereal (this is wheat, but I love corn, rice and millet too!  Plain Cheerios works here too.)
1 TBSP real maple syrup

Mix this all together while still warm!  Next add...

sliced banana (apples are great too)

Perfect combination...so good, I had another one later with fresh apples for dessert!  I actually passed on my night time treat oatmeal for this!  If you know me...this is shocking!  My body was craving light and refreshing.  I think I may give overnight oats a try for a night time treat today...maybe.
When we got back from the water park, this was sitting at my door!
I signed up a while ago to test out products for Enjoy Life through their facebook page.  This is going to be fun.  I have to get my test group together and fill out their survey online.  I have never done this before...should be fun!

Do you ever make your own cereal flavors?  What is your favorite cereal?  For me, it is another excuse to melt peanut butter and make it all gooey.

Apparently the theme this week is cereal...who knew?

  1. Yum - looks perfect, and I'm so glad you had a great time yesterday!
Isn't cereal so perfect?! I've been loving it at night, too! lol. My favorite is puffins with sliced dried apricots, cinnamon, and sunflower seed butter with almond milk - but lately I've been having puffed millet, too :) Next I'll have to try mixing the nut butter with maple syrup - why haven't I done that already?!

  3. I'm a total Kashi girl. But I do have to say- I'll also be the first one to buy generic at the grocery store. I'm pretty frugal about it (I won't even buy Kashi if it's over $2.75 a box- and that's saying something!).

  6. Oh how fun that you get to try out those Enjoy Life cookies!!

My favorite childhood cereal was apple jacks. I used to be a huge kashi go lean crunch fan, but uh, no cereal sounds good to me right now! ;)
