I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! We spent some time together as a family. To be honest with you, life has not been about food the past few days. We actually got out for a little bit!
Friday was a fun day for our family. We decided to make a small trek to Six Flags with our friends, Matt and Nayoung. It has been 16 years since the illustrator and I have gone and this was the first time our kids have ever been! It also marks the first time that my kids rode a roller coaster without an adult...where has the time gone. I had a lot of growing up to do this day, that's for sure!
Yep, Max and Taz! Seriously, do I need to state how accurate this is? I am actually kinda sad at how big Jay is getting. He will be bigger than me by the end of this year. His shoe size has already passed me! This was after a water ride that I was happy to escape! My boys enjoying the day before the water rides... My boys enjoying the day after the water ride that Max got soaked on! Tony and I are just happy that the boys could ride this one by themselves...yes, they went on it two times in a row! Checking out how wet our children are right before the hour car ride home! The one above is Tony and Nayoung checking out the map... Matt and I just leave that kind of stuff up to them. The one below is just because I liked this picture of Matt and Tony! Matt being Max's dad for the water ride...so we did not have to! Thank you! Nayoung being Jay's mom on the water ride, so we did not have to! Thank you! Just because I love this picture of Nayoung. She glows and it makes me crazy! I just think she is beautiful! The lines were crazy short that day. It actually rained on our way to the park even though it was supposed to rain the day before. We went anyway! The weather was perfect when we got there, so we were happy for the short lines and got to ride on everything we wanted to...some twice! If you read this blog often, you know that the illustrator works all the time, so this day was really special for us and it was great to spend it with great friends! Thank you Matt and Nayoung for the great day (and for the surrogate parenting)! We all can't wait for the next one!
As a foot note to the day....about food...I contacted Six Flags about wether or not they had picnic tables outside the park since we have food allergies and intolerances and needed to bring food. They told me that we could bring a cooler into the park and leave it at guest services so we could eat inside the park. We packed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (gluten free too), chips, fresh fruits and water. It worked perfectly. Luckily, Nayoung packed a massive amount of water melon that was perfectly chilled for our drive home!
I thought this was interesting, Nayoung was wearing her pedometer and it said she took 20,000 steps (around 6.5 to 7 miles). If the lines had been heavier that day, I don't know that it would have been that many. I would say that was worth the extra day off of exercising this week!
Do you like amusement parks? Do you do roller coasters? We love them! I don't like the jerky ones, but the smooth fast loopy coasters are great! What is your favorite thing to eat there? I used to love the funnel cakes. My sister and I would share them. My boys never even asked for one. I think they were completely blown away by the experience! Labels: about me |
Awww, y'all are such a cute family! I used to love our trips to Six Flags, which is strange, because I usually get nauseous on rides!
