He wore that hat and sweated to death. It was hilarious how many times he said he loved the hat. He is dedicated to style, that's for sure!
This is the view of the sunset from the illustrator's parents' house. They have the most unbelievable lake view. This is what it looked like as we were eating dinner...incredible ending to the day!
Low Country Boil:
As far as the low country boil goes, this is another one of those unrecipes that there are a million and one version of it. We put potatoes, onion, corn on the cob, sausage (we used local Georgia smoked sausage), shrimp (again, we went local with Georgia wild shrimp), and sometimes we use crawfish. I started boiling the potatoes and onion in water with old bay seasoning until they were almost done. Then I added the sausage and corn. When the potatoes were done, I added the shrimp and cooked until they were done, which only takes a few minutes. I leave extra old bay on the table to season individually 'cause I love the stuff.
It's a fun meal and it makes the best leftover chowder...that comes tomorrow. I love interactive meals! The kids love grabbing at what they want...it makes eating so much more fun!
So, my valentine is sick (even though we don't celebrate it, it would be nice if he felt well). My gift to him was my early morning run to the store to grab medicine, green juice and Epsom salts for him to take a detox bath. I hope everyone else enjoys the day!
Don't forget about the Bob's Red Mill Give Away!
I would have gone with the cookie cake, too. ;) Nice pick, Max! he he he
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that The Illustrator isn't feeling well! I'm glad that Max still had a great birthday, though. He looks very stylish in his hat! :)

Happy Birthday to Max! He is adorable :) His bday cookie looks awesome too.
ReplyDeleteI feel for the Illustrator - this thing is a pain! Hopefully what he's got is similar to me and starts feeling better as the day goes on? I know I wake up feeling SO congested, but after moving around for a couple hours it's just a (very annoying) runny nose.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Max's hat!! I love hats like that - the kid's got style, you're right!
I hope you both feel 100% soon! At least it's a "good" time of year to be on house arrest :P
Yay for being in TN! :)

If he loves hats, you should check out fuzzhats.com They has the most hilarious hats. I am sporting their yeti hat in my profile picture.
ReplyDeleteThat dinner looks delicious. The last time I looked at a crawfish, though, I was so hung over I had to hide it with a napkin so I would hurl. Whoops. It was Vegas. hahhaha.
Good luck on your quest for more sleep. =)
Sorry your Valentine is sick. It has been going around!
ReplyDeleteCookie cake used to be my favorite growing up. To this day I will sometimes stop at the Cookie Co. in the mall and get a slice (thank you to the marketing genius that came up with that idea!).
That picture of you and your little guy is SO cute! Sorry to hear your hubs is sick! Sinus stuff is no fun.
ReplyDeleteHope your hubby is feeling better. Love Max's hat, and the view from your in-laws' window is amazing...you want you want a beautiful TN view of your own. ;)
