Before I get too far gone from the workout discussion, I wanted to mention that I have tried a few new (to me) programs on Netflix. They are the 10 Minute Solution Workouts and honestly, I really like them. FitTV changed its format and now it is Discovery Health and Fit (something like that) and there is not much fit on it and a lot of crazy medical dramatization going on. I won't rant about it, because I know they did it for the ratings, I think it stinks that there are only 3 hours of exercise programs on starting at 6am and they aren't even hard core workouts any more, mostly dancing stuff. I emailed them, but I know it doesn't matter, so I am going to have to start a collection of my own. Suggestions are welcome! I love Cathe, so I know I need to start collecting her stuff, but any other thoughts on good interval stuff or kickboxing would be appreciated. Back to the 10 Minute Solution Workouts, I have done the Kickbox Boot Camp (great workout), the Carb and Calorie Burner and the Target and Toning for Beginners (this one is perfect for beginners, I did not feel the burn, but I thought it was a great workout for what it was). I guess they are doing what they hoped to do with putting these few on streaming through Netflix because now I want to try more. I am an interval lover, so the fact that these are 10 minute segments is a huge bonus for me. No boredom and each level changes things up and gets a little more intense. Has anyone else tried these?
Perfect combination of chocolate peanut butter and banana bread!
Grilled banana bread peanut butter sandwich...
I had mine straight up. This was so moist on the inside with a chewy crust on the outside.
2 cups Gluten Free All Purpose Flour (Bob's Red Mill)
1/2 cup White Rice Flour (Bob's Red Mill)
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp freshly ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup raw sugar (plus 2 tsp set aside for the top)
2 TBSP + 6 TBSP hot water (sit aside for 5 minutes) or two eggs
1 1/4 cup almond milk + 1 TBSP apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (allow to sit for 5 minutes)
10 drops vanilla NuNaturals Stevia
1/4 cup smart balance light, melted
1 cup mashed banana (3 medium)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spray a 9x5 loaf pan with cooking oil.
First make sure you have your flax egg and soured milk are set aside. Next combine the flours, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and sugar. Then add the the flax egg, milk, stevia, butter and banana to the dry ingredients and mix until everything is just combined. Pour the mixture into your prepared pan and sprinkle the top with remaining 2 teaspoons raw sugar.
Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool the bread in the pan for 5 to 10 minutes. Then remove the bread from the pan and allow to cool before slicing (this did not happen here).
I am submitting this to the Gluten Free Homemaker's Wednesday Carnival.
That bread looks and sounds DELICIOUS. Love that it is dairy and gluten free. Question, why the white rice flour? Could you use all gf flour or substitute oat flour and garnish same results?
ReplyDeleteI have one or two of the 10-minute solution DVDs (older ones) and used to like them, especially when short on time. Cathe is still my fave. So much variety from her. I don't like her, but lots do, Amy Bento. She has some kickboxing workouts as well as step and they always come with lots of premixes. I still want to try the Turbo Fire workouts and Insanity.
ReplyDeleteFor the banana bread, would brown rice flour work?
The banana bread looks great! I love when it is moist and dense.
ReplyDeleteThe banana bread looks so delicious!
ReplyDeleteI've used Netflix a few times for workouts -- I can't remember the names though. I do like Exercise TV on demand workouts as well -- they have Jillian Michaels and Jackie Warner workouts on there which I really like - quick but tough!
I LOVE the 10 minute solution DVDs! I have an abs one that is really killer-- I'm always surprised by how sore I am after I do them!
ReplyDeleteI need to get some Cathe dvds...people swear by them!
That grilled banana bread sandwich almost looks too good!!! I'd finish that in about five seconds. That sucks about FitTV. I don't have it in my cable package but I always thought it was cool that they aired workouts.
ReplyDeleteGrilled banana bread?! Wow, looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteomg that sandwich looks ridiculous!!
ReplyDeleteCameo, I don't think oat flour would do the same thing. I like using rice flour since it it has a binding quality to it. If you try oat flour, let me know how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteHeather, I think brown rice flour would work. Let me know if you try it out!
How funny! We posted just about the same thing :)
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike :)
I need to go back on to Exercise TV and see what all is out there now. I know the reason I started my little Jillian dvd collection is because they got rid of the ones I liked!
ReplyDeleteI hope the day starts to chill out a little this afternoon! Have a good one, my dear!
Holy moly - grilled banana bread sandwiches?? SHUT THE DOOR. What a genius idea! Why have I never thought of that before??
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the PB banana bread sandwich! That combo's gotta be a winner - and it's making me want some banana bread right now!

ReplyDeleteBanana bread is pretty much my favorite bread...surprising, right? :)
That stinks on the FitTV stuff! I remember when we got that programming and they would have some great stuff on there.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteGood on you for emailing them. They won't know what you think otherwise and who knows, maybe others have as well. I really like the Jillian Michaels Boost Your Metabolism. It has some kickboxing involved so you might like it as well. Have a great day!
A 10 minute workout sounds perfect! I always think home workout DVDs would be a great solution to not wanting to go to the gym...but I've never really tried one. Perhaps it's time!
ReplyDeleteglad you're feeling better and love the shortened workouts...amen!
ReplyDeletethe chewy crust on the outside of that bread looks fab..seriously, what a great job on this one!

ReplyDeleteThat banana bread looks awesome!
I have to look to see if my exercise channels changed. I would be annoyed too! Why do I never make banana bread? I need to.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you are back to your workouts girl! That stomach bug is no joke!
ReplyDeleteThat grilled sandwich looks life changing!
ReplyDeleteYou are KILLING me with those pictures! Why have I not made banana bread in so long?!
ReplyDeleteOh my heavens. That grilled banana bread and peanut butter photo is pure food porn, and even though I just ate 8 of my marzipan balls, you've made me hungry again! Now the dilemma... do I use my frozen bananas for smoothies or this bread?
ReplyDeleteoh my...why have I never thought to eat banana bread with chocolate peanut butter?
