Slow Weekend...

This weekend went by so slow. I know most people would disagree, but the illustrator and I have literally been on opposite sides of the country since Thursday and that is just too far for me! I got a good few inches cut from my hair on Friday, I plan to donate it this summer. I want it to be healthy when I do and the winter can be pretty harsh on hair even if you do take care of it. Thank you for all of the compliments, I really did not expect that at all. I was posting it as an...OH MY GOSH...I NEED a haircut! For those that asked, I don't use anything expensive or fancy on it. I use Suave's professional knock off line...cause I'm fancy like that, but after I wash and condition it (everyday), I put a pea sized amount of conditioner on the ends and leave it on there. I like to think that keeps the moisture on there. I also feel pretty lucky to have a strong Greek gene that I got my hair from.

Saturday was a sit on my butt all day kind of day. It stormed all day, so going out would have just been a huge pain in the butt. So, I hung out with the boys watching movies and tv shows on Netflix, baked pretzel rolls

(sadly, not quite what I was looking for...needs work)

and made cinnamon rolls for Sunday morning.

(I think I lost count on the scoops of flour...oops)

Again, not quite what I was looking for, so I will have to make them again. Nothing a little icing can't fix for now...

(Enjoyed with the Sunday funnies)

It was one of those lazy days that felt good in some ways, but my brain was going so much that I really couldn't fully enjoy it the relaxation. We also played a mean game of Scrabble.

Sunday was perfect (except for missing my husband). Max and I did a boxing workout that felt great! It was so much fun working out with him! I also took everything out of the fridge and freezer. Scrubbed it down with soapy water, threw out the out of date stuff and then refilled it. Jay actually commented on how great it looked and that it was weird that he could see everything in it. Ya gotta love a clean fridge!

Then I cleaned out the pantry. That was mostly a reorganization task and again, Jay said "whoa, this is so clean". He was impressed that he could walk in to it again. Sadly, I do blame them for a lot of the messes, but it is nice to do a good cleaning out and reorganizing!

I also baked off a huge batch of quinoa bean burgers and oven roasted some rutabaga and carrots to go with it for dinner. Sunday dinner was the highlight of my weekend. The boys and I ate a great meal together while watching 3rd Rock From The Sun...that show holds up (in my opinion). Still funny and they act like kids, so the kids could relate.

How was the weather where you were this weekend? I need some warm sunshine!

  1. We had a pretty icky Saturday too. Our storms hit overnight though, but it was still gray and drizzly Sat. Not fun for errands. Sounds like you had a pretty good low-key weekend. sometimes that's the best kind of weekend really.

  5. When you do make those pretzels "what you're looking for," I want to hear about it! I LOVE a good soft pretzel.

  6. Third Rock From the Sun is SUCH a great show! Never gets old. :) Not to mention I always looked up to Kristen Johnston on that show because she was curvy and beautiful, and I was a kid struggling with my body image at the time.

  7. Sorry it was kind of a slow weekend! It sounds like you got a lot done though and still managed to have fun with the boys! My weekend went by pretty quickly with my family...if only we could have swapped. :)

  9. Unfortunately no sun to share from here! Those cinnamon rolls look fabulous so I can't wait to see the recipe once you think it is perfect :-) I love pretzel rolls too! That was a pretty productive weekend. Reminded me I need to clean out our fridge too.

  10. Your kitchen "whoopsies" still look so beautiful. I think I'd take one of your "needs work" pretzel rolls over a roll from a bakery around here any day :P
We're getting the storm you must have had on Saturday, today. It's vicious out there right now! SO much snow, and SO much wind, too. Definitely a "cozy up inside" kind of day...it'd be more fun if these days weren't becoming a weekly occurrence!
I always feel so accomplished when I clean things! I hope the Illustrator has a safe trip back home :)

We had some pretty nasty weather here too. It rained ALL day Saturday and only got up to in the 40's! I am so ready for Spring!
