Swanson Products Review

I am glad to know that my post yesterday meant something to a lot of you. I think since we are all trying to live the healthiest way we can (especially when you have food restrictions), it is important to share as much as we can...even the not so pretty side! Thank you all for your support, your friendship and your kind words!

On the note of supplements and getting our vitamins, I received an incredible package from the kind folks at Swanson Health Products last week. If you've never heard of Swanson Health Products, it is a company that focuses on providing individuals with products for good health. They offer everything from supplements to food products.

My package arrived with multi vitamins for men and woman, vitamin D3, Liquid Calcium Magnesium, Cod Liver Oil Pills, NOW Olive Oil, NOW Pineapple Dices, NOW Walnuts and NOW Almond Clusters.

Jay has discovered his love of dried pineapple and tore in to this bag immediately. It is sadly gone.

However, I will be ordering more as I thought it was a great price and I love that he is eating healthier snacks. I realize dried fruit is sugary, but I think it is so much better for him than candy and well, it tastes like candy.

The walnuts were the next thing ripped in to. They are not gone, but we are such a nut loving family, they won't last long. I think I may do a version of the crack nuts with them.

The illustrator is a HUGE walnut fan.

The almond clusters, well they are gone already too.

Max and I put a hurting on them to the point that he called dibs on the last few for snack time at school. They were slightly sweet and super crunchy...my kind of treat!

The olive oil has been used in a few soups and sauteed vegetables this past week and well, it is olive oil. I think the price is pretty good for where I live, so I would consider buying it from them next time.

As for the suppliments, well, the illustrator tried the mens multi vitamin and was not really a fan of that brand. They are very earthy as are the woman's multi vitamin. I can handle the earthiness of them, so I will continue to take them.

I am going to start taking the calcium tomorrow, so I will let you know my thoughts on that.

All of these products were sent to me to review. I have given my honest opinion on each of them. Thank for sharing your products Swanson!

Do you order your supplements or buy them locally. What are your favorite places to get them?

  1. I love the NOW line -- I used to sell it at the health food store I worked at and was always impressed with its quality and low price.

I try to go to a local health food store to buy supplements; if in a pinch I get things at whole foods.

Those walnuts look super delicious! I love putting walnuts into soups and pureeing them along with the soup to add a wonderful texture. But I might just be weird.

    Good luck w/ the calcium!

  2. Thanks for the heads-up on this company - I'd never heard of them! I'll tell you what, though - that "4.99 shipping" is what caught my eye first! I HATE when online stores charge an arm and a leg for shipping. This company makes ordering online feasible.
That said - I'm usually 50-50 as to whether I order online or not. I can't buy chia seeds unless I want to pay $20 for what I can get for $8 through iHerb. I'll have to see if Swanson has them!

  3. that's an awesome package you received!
I have a hard time dropping $$$ on supplements and vitamins...I usually buy from the grocery store, and occasionally the local health food store.

  7. Great package!! We buy our supplements at the local health food shop-- but even IT can be overwhelming! There are just so many supplements out there-- it's hard to know what to take.

  10. I buy my vitamins and fish oil pills from either Sam's Club Costco. If I need a specific supplement I will look online or head to a store that supplies a good variety.

I love those almond clusters. Mrs. May's is a brand that makes all kinds of clustered nuts and different flavors!

  12. Wow, nix delivery! Great stuff for sure!

I buy most of my supplements locally unless I can only find them online. My local health food stores are usually where I buy.

  15. I order my supplements online, but I don't really have a specific site. Drugstore.com is good or Amazon is good for finding low prices.

  16. I love the Juice Plus vitamins. They are capsules that contain powder concentrated from fruits and veggies, so you are getting nutrients in the most natural way possible (short of eating them directly). For protein, I'm more simple - the GNC powder (vanilla or cookie dough flavor) is my go-to.

  17. Another Swanson's review! They are making the rounds. I do sometimes buy supplements online, but I hop around depending on who has the best deal and usually who offers free shipping. I hate paying for shipping!
