Spring Cleaning Weekend...

This weekend was one of the most physically draining weekends I've had in a long time. We took on the task of gutting out all the crap in the kids' rooms. It seems like we do this every year, but this time, we literally moved EVERYTHING out, scrubbed EVERYTHING and only put back in the things they use on a regular basis. It's so strange that they are old enough now to not really "play" with toys (except LEGOS, Jay is a master at LEGOS), but they don't want to let them go. We have about 6 (or more) HUGE tuperwares of Star Wars stuff. These are the boys' first keepsakes. Meaning they don't want to "play" with them anymore, but they don't want to give them up either. It was a very "Toy Story" kind of weekend here. We also cleaned out appliances in the pantry that are never used and scrubbed walls. Why do kids feel the need to put their hands on the walls? Anyway, we were warn out.

The best part of the weekend, was the ending. We had pizza! By 4:00pm, we were pretty much done and needed to relax. I had some Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Pizza Crust in the freezer (it freezes really well!), I made a gluten free pizza crust that I need to play with a little more, but I will share soon

(Never mind the cheese on here, but the crust is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I have one more thing to do in order to make it a little doughier, then I will share it.)

and I made my gluten free flat bread pizza (super thin and super crispy).

(My favorite mix of mushrooms, peppers, onions, spinach and nutritional yeast!)

I LOVE making pizza now. It's hard to believe I went years without eating pizza. Now, we seem to eat it almost every week. Anyway, we ate dinner on the patio while playing scrabble. Jay, who is 12 1/2, kicked mine and the illustrator's butts. I'm going to blame it on exhaustion.

So, I decided to take it easy on myself this morning with my workout. I did Ellen Barrett's Slow Robics (I think this is similar to what I did, but I recorded mine from FiTv a long time ago). I really love this workout for those days that I really want to move to stretch things out, but don't want to over do it since I worked out all weekend. It combines strength through movement so your heart rate does go up, but with out a lot of bouncing around. Great workout in my opinion.

Today is another busy day for me. I'm massively scrubbing bathrooms and the hardwood floors. It's funny, our house isn't dirty by any means. The illustrator and I are kind of neat freaks with no clutter, but every so often you need to do a really good once over on everything. I really needed this Spring Cleaning!

  2. Can you come spring clean for me? But it would be more of a I-haven't-cleaned-since-we-moved-in type of thing...

  3. I love the end result of spring cleaning...but the process? Ugh.

Pizza is a perfect way to reward yourself for hard work! I love pizza....so much. I think I could eat it everyday, but really am still looking for top notch gluten free and dairy free (but not gross fake cheese either) versions...

I'll be stalking your gluten free crust recipe when you post it!

  4. The thin crust looks so good! Ahhhh pizza....

The girl I'm moving with is obsessed and has pizza every weekend as her "thing".

I'm not seeing any problems with this. ;)

    Happy Monday!!!

  6. Jason would be so jealous that you have all of those Star Wars legos :) We have our fair share too!

Sounds like you had a productive weekend, but yes, cleaning wears me out too!

  7. I did spring cleaning too, and I totally relate to the boys-- I have SO much stuff that I never wear/use/need, but I'm so reluctant to throw it out! I need one of Oprah's henchmen to come and make me throw it out like they do on her episodes about organization and house makeovers, haha.

I'm wondering, do you ever eat dairy free cheese (because you're lactose intolerant too)?
